Brazilwood

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Powerful stimulant for the sympathetic nervous system, which deals with fight or flight stress, and increases adrenalin output. Increases heart rate, blood pressure, and nerve awareness. Also associated with LIFE, love, sex, assertion, strength, and excitement. SOURCE: This natural dye comes from various leguminous trees, including lima, sapan, peach wood, quebracho and palo de Brazil. I use brazilwood to create a wonderful bright but earthy pink.

Cutch

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: regarded as an immune stimulant medicine. SOURCE: Prepared from the tree Acacia catechu and makes for a lovely brown. The catechu tree is a thorny plant cultivated in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. Cutch is the extract used to make light brown to red-brown dye pigments. The cutch natural plant dye produces a light peachy brown similar to a skin tone.

Fustic

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Powerful stimulant to the mental process. Increases alertness and cognitive abilities. Helps aid in digestion and dispels gloom. Associated with spiritual light and wealth SOURCE: The dyestuff is the heartwood of a tropical tree related to the mulberry. It gives bright clear yellow when we mordant it with alum. The trees from which this dyestuff has been harvested have grown up wild in the Caribbean Island of the Dominican Republic. No tree is cut down for the harvest: only a large side branch is taken. All heartwood from the center of this branch is cleaned and planed by hand.

Indigo

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Profoundly calming to the nervous system and it promotes physical and mental Rest. Anti bacterial/fungal properties, immune stimulation ,skin detoxification & purification, blood purification. The color created with Vat Indigo balances the heart, stimulates the lungs, Liver, thymus, and lymph system. The fermentation process has a powerful earthy smell that will still linger on your garment and will wash away after the first couple of washing.

Logwood

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: The logwood color is known to slow down an over-active heart; stimulate the spleen and the white blood cells (immunity). Bring sleep. Soothe mental and emotional stress and aids in detoxification. A wonderful color for meditation, contemplation, mysticism, spirituality and religion power. SOURCE: This exceptional logwood has been hand-harvested in association with Mama D.O.C.'s Logwood Project to help bring money and work to the natives of the small island. This Logwood has been harvested from the best old growth tree (70+ years) available. For the one tree that's been harvested 10 have been planted. Special care has been taken to harvest and dry without aging and fermenting. Due to the attention it requires in production it is extremely rare. It produces excellent "Rust Red" colours and is what you need for making extracts. It has been quickly processed and dried to keep it's anti-oxidant properties.

Low Impact Fiber Reactive Dyes

Low-impact dyes are synthetic dyes with a higher than average absorption rate (70%-80%, depending on the color). This means less water is required in the rinse process and less dye runs off in the water; therefore, the dyes have a lower impact on the environment. Low-impact dyes also typically do not contain heavy metals (like chrome, copper and zinc), nor do they require toxic chemical mordants to fix them to the fiber. The dye, and rinse water, are often recycled and used again.

Madder

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Powerful stimulant for the sympathetic nervous system, which deals with fight or flight stress, and increases adrenalin output. Increases heart rate, blood pressure, and nerve awareness. Also associated with LIFE, love, sex, assertion, strength, and excitement. SOURCE: Madder is cultivated and grows wild throughout India, South East Asia, Turkey, Europe, South China, parts of Africa, Australia and Japan. Madder is a key ingredient in our Indigo fermentation vat.

QUEBRACHO WOOD

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Powerful stimulant for the sympathetic nervous system, which deals with fight or flight stress, and increases adrenalin output. Increases heart rate, blood pressure, and nerve awareness. Also associated with LIFE, love, sex, assertion, strength, and excitement. SOURCE: Quebracho grows only in the jungles of the Gran Chaco, an area along the banks of the Paraguay River. The entire tree, bark to heartwood, has a distinctive red coloration, and the wood is quite heavy and extremely hard. The name is derived from the Spanish quebrar, to break, and hacha, an axe. It is quite slow growing, and therefore is harvested selectively from tree farms that participate in reforestation efforts. Quebracho has a long history as a tanning agent and as a dye. It is most suitable for dyeing cellulose fibers, but also performs well on silks, and yields a lovely pinkish peach to brown rose color.

sandlewood

POSSIBLE WELLNESS BENEFITS: Skin beauty enhancement, reduces acne, dark and white spots, calming cooling effect on the body and mind, metaphorical heart-opener, promotes a feeling of peace and serenity. SOURCE: As far as I have been able to learn, this is a recycle product, being salvage from the primary use of the trees for their beautiful and fragrant wood. Also, the species is not the rare Sandalwood of the Pacific Islands, but is a common tree in the area of India where it is harvested.
